Cavitt Place is a historic mansion that is elegantly preserved to its Italian Renaissance revival architecture. It was built in 1916, for a cherished family by the name of the Bartons. O.C. Barton named this house after his second wife Miss Tillie Cavitt so it is forever named Cavitt Place. Barton was a highly successful businessman and the first millionaire of Paris at the turn of the century. Cavitt Place is located within the Poplar Street Historic District which is filled with well maintained, beautifully designed palatial homes. Take a stroll around the property and down the street to view other historic homes. Although all of them are privately owned, it is still a pleasure to see other prominent people of Paris who owned and resided on this street, many akin to the Barton family but also the famous E.W. Grove and the members of the Mitchum family.
Our mission is to enrich, inform, and entertain visitors of all ages through carefully curated historical exhibits and engaging programs. Whether you're attending a special event or exploring our displays, Cavitt Place offers something unique and timeless for everyone in the family and community.
